Hello... there is a new social site that is called 'Stand-Up Socials' and I would like to offer OnlineDating members a free ticket so I can get your $.02 bc the long-term goal is to make a dating app where we connect people based on their comedy taste. This first event is for everyone but we will put the 'single & looking' people in breakout rooms together so you are guaranteed to make connections and talk to people. You can see the site here: www.StandUpSocials.com and get a free ticket here: www.StandUpSocials.com/VIP I hope this does not come out as spam bc I am not asking for any money... I am offering the free ticket so I can get honest feedback from a community who uses online dating. Please PM me if you have any questions, etc. Thanks in advance.
2020.03.24 21:23 ExcellentConfusion2Is it worth keeping the conversation going? 29M 26F
Can't post in onlinedating for some reason, so trying here. I started talking with a girl online, things went slow but managed to get it off the site and we have been chatting for a week or so. I usually like things to move along faster in terms of meeting up or at least making plans to, however that's not a huge dealbreaker for me as I've had decent luck meeting and had a several year relationship with someone I talked to for over a month before we met. Getting deeper into conversation with her she mentions that she is talking with someone else and wants to see where it leads. However, still seemed open to conversation, snapchat and such and that leaves me where I am now. Any advice on how or whether or not to even bother keeping contact? There's of course the chance she's just not interested and letting me know in a friendly way. However we did seem to have a connection and part of me says it's worth keeping the interest there in case things don't pan out with her other interest(s) which seems to happen often in the world of online dating. Of course I could leave things in her court to initiate the next contact, but generally it seems a lot of women online don't like doing that. Unfortunately I live in an area where the "type" that I normally attract is few and far between so I hate to just give up on it?

2016.11.11 16:33 pepperminty11Me [23 M] am meeting with two different Girls [22 F] in the same timeframe. Not sure how to proceed.
Hello. So after a breakup a few months ago, with my first girlfriend, i started onlinedating. I met a very nice girl on an dating site and we begin to hit if off pretty quick. I can talk to her quite easily and we are meeting every other day on Skype to chat and watch different shows together. I have met her in person 1 time and i will be seeing her again in an week. Sadly she is living quite a bit away from my Town. Pretty much at the same time i met this other nice girl [Also 22]. I don't quite feel the same connection to her as i have with the first girl, but i still like her quite a bit. She is also living in the same town as me, wich is important to me. We had about 3 very nice and comfortable dates so far, but i don't know if i should make any moves. I am not even 100% sure we have any chemestry together. I like being around her but i am also feeling kind of stressed... This is going on for about 2 months now. I am new to all this dating stuff. Is what i am doing wrong/bad? I don't want to be a dick or hurt anyones feelings. Am i being a jerk? What would be my best course of action? tl;dr: Met 2 girls at the same time, ended up dating both at the same time, don't know how to feel about the situation or myself, please send help!
2016.05.06 11:08 Megs_researchPlease consider participating in my doctoral research into online dating experiences?
Hi /TwoXChromosomes. I am a student at the University of Nottingham completing my Psychology doctorate course. As part of this I am conducting research into online dating experiencs with a view to improve safety. This takes the form of an online questionnaire, which asks about online dating habits and date experiencs. I am looking for participants aged 18+ who have used online dating sites/apps and met at least one person face to face (as it asks you to discuss your last date). The information page says it will take up to 40 minutes to complete but I have been consistently informed by participants that it is more like 10-15 -I just wanted to make sure I gave people enough time. I'm also aware of the typos but can't change them now the survey is live - sorry! The survey is anonymous and raw data will only be seen by myself and my supervisor. Data anlysis will be seen by the examiners at the University of Nottingham in the first instance and this research will also be submitted for publication in a peer reviewed journal (yet to be determined). This survey has ethics approval from the University of Nottingham School of Medicine Ethics Committee and details can be found on the first page of the survey. You can withdraw at any time by simply closing your browser window/tab. Questions are optional so you may choose not to answer some but still complete the rest of the survey. If you have any questions you can message me on here or my email address is provided on the information page and debrief of the survey. If you would consider taking part, the link is here. https://nottingham.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/onlinedating Thanks for reading!
2016.04.27 21:45 Megs_researchPlease help with my research into online dating experiences with a view to increase safety? - online survey
Hi online daters of reddit! I am conducting research on online dating experiences as part of my doctorate programme. I need over 1000 participants so I thought I would reach out to you guys for help. It shouldn't take more than half an hour and you would be contributing not only to my degree but also scientific literature promoting online dating safety. Contact details are on the survey if you have any questions or message me on here. The online survey link is here https://nottingham.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/onlinedating EDIT: A little more about the study from the intro on the survey: The purpose of this research study is to find out more information about the message content used in conversations via online dating sites or applications, and whether it can be used to predict behaviours of the message sender during face to face meetings. Its basically gonna ask you what your face to face experiences have been and what kinda things people say in messages.
2015.11.28 00:19 throwawytinder[Tinder] Am I Doing This Right? [M26]
Edit: I realize that onlinedating is better suited for this, I appreciate the replies I got, seriously frustrated, may just go back to day-trips and random encounters... TL;DR No Tinder Success Looking for Pointers Hey guys, not sure if this is the right sub, I ran a search but got mostly people finding their SOs on Tinder. Not the case. Also throwaway because I have a recognizable un. I am a 26 year old male living in a small town between a large city 1.5 hours away and a decent sized college town 1 hour away. Recently divorced in June and have been pretty lonely so I decided to give tinder a shot. All i get is bots/spam for camming sites :/ I get that this is a free service and is going to have people taking advantage of the visibility but seriously, not a single actual person in the month or so I've been active. I'm convinced that one person was actually real, but abruptly informed me that "her phone is dying..." etc. Talked to co-workers (never even thought of how awkward finding them/vice versa could be :S) who have had relative success and I don't get it? I have a few selfies, a group photo, a photo of me mountain biking/hiking, I mean I don't think I'm unattractive, I'm in decent shape and am relatively successful (military) you think I would be ripe for at least a conversation. The few matches I have had that I wait out or just send a "Hi" to inevitably unmatch me... So I guess I have a few questions: For the ladies: what do you expect from a "match?" is hey/hi just too bland? Should I try a joke or "line?" Is the fact that I'm military a deal breaker for my anticipated age group? (26-35?). Are you all just swiping right and filtering out matches? (trying to figure out why so many have matched me and than unmatched me without a reply) Guys: How often do you get spam/bots? whats worked for you? I understand this is a subjective question, as what will work for me depends ultimately on what I want but I mean that initial spark, the first meet up before you actually decide this person isn't right for you? I feel like I'm not even getting them to look past my profile... And lastly for both sexes, heres my profile, constructive criticism is invited. I'm not willing to project myself as someone I'm not but am I using the wrong words? "I live in *****, looking for someone to spend time with, let the relationship develop itself. Love to hike and camp, read and kickback with music if I'm staying inside. I'm in alright shape, looking for someone who likes to be active. Hit me up lets hang out!"
2015.11.05 00:34 JuneinSFEveryone on online dating sites, you gave phone#s to Tawkify
If you are on ANY #onlinedating site, #Tawkify got #YourPhoneNumber. They search potential dates for you on ONLINE DATING SITES including #TINDER JUST LIKE YOU DO and FINDING NOTHING. Yes, the SAME POOL OF PEOPLE you've been swiping or “star” or “like” or whatever you’ve been doing and finding NOTHING. We’re assuming it is a self selected group of people who are all opted in, looking for long term relationship, were going to extra step to matching making to find someone. NOPE NOT THE CASE The company has “networking” with those sites = Tawkify can go through your OKCupid or match or whatever profiles AND GET YOUR PHONE NUMBER and other personal information. They even go through LinkedIn. Using LinkedIn for dating is so inappropriate and creepy. So if you get spam creepy call from Tawkify, like one of the yelp review says, they got your number from whatever the app you’re using. If you never got a call from them, like I haven’t??? Think about this... I’m on multiple dating sites. Including OKC. = I’m on their “database” already. They have my phone #. They have yours. But they never called me or you. That means THEY DON’T HAVE ANYONE WHO WANT TO DATE YOU. They claim they have “Over 30,000 people on our database”, they don’t mean they have that many members. I don’t even know how they came up with that number. I met 2 matchmakers from Tawkify The first one did nothing after I met her over 3wks, so I complained. They gave me the 2nd matchmaker. The email they sent along with new one, had the rundown of what they do on the first month with you. recruitment: that word caught my attention. “The matchmaker begins her search, blah blah blah. Screenings are happening on the backend, as well as recruitment and research. So I asked the matchmaker if two guys they “found” for me were both recruited and where do they look for people to recruit. She told me they were found in other online dating sites and they’re trying to recruit those guys. The second match maker told me, the first matchmaker “penciled” two guys for me on those other dating sites. BUT HADN’T MET EITHER OF THEM. It took MORE THAN 3 WKS for them to PENCIL these guys from the same pool of people I’ve been looking at. I’m sorry, but I can “pencil” 2 good potential guys on any of these sites if I took sweet a$$ 3 full weeks. My “must haves” aren’t even income or job category or height. All I asked was someone who can support himself, active, fit, well rounded, and ready to settle down. Go to the climbing gym in Sunnyvale. 70% of the guys there are making good money, active, and fit. It’s faster if they camp in front of the gym and ask every guy without a ring if they want to go on a date. They do claim they screen everyone. Meaning they go on the first dates for you and filter out the crazy/creepy ones. Someone gave me a link to a blog, which was clearly paid ad, horribly written his experience with Tawkify. (The writer is trying to make it sounds Tawkify is amazing but completely failing at it.) He got set up with his coworker. WHAT HAPPENED TO SCREENING?????? They do interview each one of them but at least ask where they are working and check the driver's licence or LinkedIn. WAIT THEY DO GO THROUGH YOUR LINKEDIN. What do they screen then???? what sort of “background check” are they doing? If they are at all…. Their customer service sucks, too. Don’t even bother with refund for their pi$$ poor service or lack thereof. After my first matchmaker didn’t deliver s**t, I complained to the company. The “contract” says I’m “guaranteed” 2 dates per month. I didn’t get even 1 date. Meeting your matchmaker is included in the fee, but I had to meet the new one, so that’s a wash. Right? I should get my money back or good discount for the next month. NOT A F**KING CHANCE. Julia Armet, Operations Lead gave me whipping 10% off of the next month. I flat out told her that’s pretty poor. Her “my s*t doesn’t stink” response was below. “Should you not opt to use the promo code when the time comes, that is up to your discretion.” Basically “we make enough money so take it or leave it is up to you.” DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT “CONTRACT” MEANS?? THEIR “GUARANTEE” MEANS NOTHING. Save your money, be patient with your swiping and accept that you will go through volume. Only advantages Tawkify has is they have everyone’s phone number. THEY HAVE YOUR PHONE NUMBER, TOO.
2012.04.19 09:52 KINGCOCOMen who misrepresent their height in their online profile. Discuss.
Posting in onlinedating but that place is a ghost town. I gave some advice about online dating over here. People are angry. I am about 5'8.5" but online I list my height as 5'11". I also wear shoes with a slight heel (normal stylish shoes) that add about 1 inch. I do this as a way to soften the discrepancy and because it makes me feel and look taller. My feeling is height is something a lot of girls screen for, but once we are on a date they don't actually care. I feel like I've gotten a lot of dates (and sex and relationships) with women I would not have if I had been honest about my height upfront. As these woman seem to enjoy dating me and many continue to do so after the first date, I would say these woman benefit or are at least not harmed by my misrepresentation. And I never lie about my height when asked. Please share your thoughts. Also, I would appreciate it if you give your gender and age. edit: Kind of shocked by the responses so far. I have lowered my height for now. edit2: Wow I'm really surprised with the responses. I had no idea people found this so offensive. It makes me wonder if some of my dates cared more than they let on. I have lowered my height from 5'11" to 5'10 for now. I really shocked by how strongly people feel about any misrepresentations in their profile. I basically forget about everything a person has in their profile when we meet, and just treat it as a blind date more or less. I have also never cared about misrepresentations in a profile. Even when someone has misrepresented their profile, my only thought is "Do I like the person they actually are". This is probably because having lied in my profile, I have no qualms about others doing the same. edit3: After reading some of these responses I get the impression that our different feelings on the issue may stem from how much time is invested to get to the first date. I usually send 2-4 short messages myself. There is very little invested on either part. I can understand that if you spent weeks messaging and talking on the phone with someone that you would be upset if they are not exactly what they represented. In that case yes, lying is not so cool. Also, it's pretty funny how people are going nuts about this sort of thing, considering that most people online claim to live for climbing mountains and camping, despite having done neither in 2 years.
2011.12.13 21:54 lam3rHalp! Wanna buy boots, but there isn't much choice...
Hello /mfa I'm in a market for wintespring-ish boots, but the selection here is so awfuly limited! No Clarks... What I've found in brick and mortar shops is listed below. I need your help on deciding what to buy.
As you may noticed, the only available shoe shops here are Humanic, Reno, Deichmann, Rieker and Bata. But! The selection in these shops is completely different from selection of the same shops in Vienna. Check this out and silently weep :( Thank you guys edit> Alright, if you say there's no such a thing as a wintespring boot, just help me to decide please :(
I just searched for "childfree dating" and didn't come across any relevant links but if I'm wrong then sorry for duping or posting in the wrong section. I'd just like to plug a site that I visit and use but in no way profit from. I have no connection to it rather than the fact that I'm one of the users of the site. It is an online dating site for people who have chosen to be child free and who are actively seeking out mates that share this sentiment. The problem is that the site has limited visibility and we need more people on there. It is a free site so no worries about paying to make contacts. The owner of this site does this pro bono and is not a tech guy so please be nice regarding the site's look and features. If you have chosen to be child free and see it as a deal makebreaker, but find that it is exceedingly difficult to find mates that either share this sentiment or are equally resolute in developing a child free life, please help populate and grow this very needed site. Thank you in advance. The site: I Do NOT Want Kids! EDIT: xpost from onlinedating subreddit
